Product Storage
Many industries rely on cool room facilities (38° to 40° Fahrenheit) for the storage of perishable products. These facilities typically use chilled water or refrigeration equipment to produce the necessary cooling. Planned system shutdowns, emergencies, and seasonal supplemental cooling needs for product cold storage offer significant rental opportunities. The illustration below shows a typical installation:
Rental equipment typically used for product storage cooling applications includes the following:
AC, chiller, and air handling modules ranging from 25 to 300 tons
Pump modules, circulation tanks, cooling towers, or heat exchanger modules
Ducting, piping, and fittings
Engineering and supervision services
Installation and maintenance services
On-site operation and training
Typical Customers:
Any business that has perishable or heat-sensitive products is a prospect for this application including:
Fruit and vegetable growers
Fisheries and canneries
Pharmaceutical companies
Chemical companies
Hospitals
Discovery Questions:
Do you have cold room storage for perishable or heat-sensitive products?
Are your product cooling and/or refrigeration systems scheduled for maintenance, repair, retrofit, or replacement?
Do you have seasonal cold storage requirements? What would your revenue losses and costs be if your cold storage facilities were to fail?
Configuration and Installation Issues:
In A/C applications, the units will be located outside and supply/return ducting will be required. Special ductwork routing and/or insulation might be required.
In chiller/AHU applications, the AHU is usually located inside the building. Ductwork may or may not be required.
In both types of applications, return air should be drawn from high in the conditioned space.
